Are EARTHKORE products FDA Approved?

Yes, EARTHKORE products have been approved and certified by the FDA.

Does EARTHKORE work in a landfill?

Yes, EARTHKORE products can work effectively in a landfill. They only require a temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit to activate, even in the absence of oxygen or UV rays. Landfill temperatures typically range around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

What kind of certifications does EARTHKORE have?

EARTHKORE’S ingredient has completed the ASTM D5511 - Anaerobic biodegradation of plastic materials under high solids, anaerobic digestion conditions.  This is the equivalent to the ISO 15985 & EN 15985.

Also, it completed the following:

• ASTM D5526-18 - Accelerated Biodegradation in Landfill Conditions

• ASTM D5988 - Soil Biodegradation Certification

• ASTM D5338 - Composting Biodegradation Certification

• ASTM D6691-17 – Marine Certification

• ASTM E1963 Terrestrial Plant Toxicity Test

• Toxicity testing to show no micro-plastics remaining after biodegradation:

• OECD 207 Earthworm Acute Toxicity Tests

• OECD 208 Terrestrial Plant Test: Seedling Emergence and Seedling Growth Test

Additional Certs – FDA Approved, Intertek Green Leaf Biodegradation Certified, EU Reach, & EFSA. In addition, our products have undergone FDA and EU food safety tests, meeting all the necessary requirements.

Does this process leave behind microplastics?

No, EARTHKORE products are third-party certified to leave behind zero microplastics.

Are EARTHKORE products compostable?

No, EARTHKORE products are not compostable according to ASTM D6400 certification standards. However, they do possess the ASTM D5338 - Composting Biodegradation Certification.

Are EARTHKORE products recyclable?

Yes, EARTHKORE-enabled products are completely recyclable.

Are EARTHKORE products ASTM Certified?

Yes, ASTM D5511, ASTM D5526-18, ASTM D5988, ASTM D5338, ASTM D6691-17 & ASTM E1963

Are EARTHKORE products landfill certified?

Are EARTHKORE products certified for home composting or commercial composting facilities?

Our plastic technology can break down in both home composting and commercial composting facilities. However, it is important to note that our technology does not meet the current standards for fast breakdown. We are actively working on updating our language and obtaining modernized approvals.

Are EARTHKORE products safe for disposal in a Marine Environment?

EARTHKORE products are ASTM D6691-17 certified: which is anaerobic certified for marine environment.
