CHANGING OUR HABITS WON’T SOLVE PLASTIC POLLUTION.
WE HAVE TO CHANGE THE PLASTIC TOO.
PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT
The world won’t reach its climate goals with today’s plastic waste management. Plastic pollution undermines the goals of the green movement by contributing to climate change, contaminating recycling streams, depleting natural resources, and causing ecological damage.
Compostables Composted
While compostable products sound like a brilliant idea, only a small percentage of compostables are actually composted in most countries. In the United States, it is estimated that less than 5% of compostable materials end up being composted, largely due to the lack of access to industrial composting facilities and inadequate infrastructure for the collection and processing of compostable waste.
Biodegradables vs. EARTHKORE Products
Biodegradable refers to materials that can be broken down into simpler substances by bacteria, fungi, or other living organisms. These materials may still leave behind some residue or byproducts, but they are generally considered to be environmentally-friendly because they do not accumulate in the environment.
EARTHKORE products are broken down by living organisms and eventually become part of the natural environment. In other words, they can be converted into organic matter and become part of the natural ecosystem without leaving any harmful residue or byproducts.
Marine Biodegradable vs. EARTHKORE Products
Marine biodegradable technology refers to the ability of materials to break down into smaller pieces in marine environments, but this does not necessarily mean that they will be completely harmless to marine life. In fact, some marine biodegradable materials can still leave behind harmful microplastics and chemicals that can impact marine organisms and ecosystems.
EARTHKORE products, on the other hand, are designed to be fully converted into organic matter by microorganisms in the environment. This allows them to become part of the natural nutrient cycle.
